Microcontroller low-power design is a key technology for battery-powered products, mainly including the following aspects:
1. Clock Management:
- System Clock: Switch between different frequency clocks according to work requirements
- Peripheral Clock: Turn off unused peripheral clocks
- Sleep Clock: Use low-speed clock in sleep mode
2. Peripheral Control:
- Turn off power to unused peripheral modules
- Set GPIO to analog input to reduce leakage
- ADC, UART and other modules switch on demand
3. Sleep Modes:
- Idle Mode: CPU stops, peripherals continue running
- Power-down Mode: Most modules stop, only wake-up sources retained
- Deep Power-down: Almost all modules stop, lowest power consumption
4. Wake-up Mechanism:
- External Interrupt: Buttons, sensors and other external signals wake up
- Timer Wake-up: RTC timer wake-up to execute tasks
- Other Wake-up: UART, touch and other event wake-up
Design Tips:
- Reasonably allocate work and sleep time ratio
- Select low-power devices, pay attention to device power parameters
- PCB design should reduce leakage paths
- Software algorithm optimization, complete tasks quickly then enter sleep
